WHY HAVE A PAINTING COMMISSIONED?

A Portrait should express the essence of the subject.  Paintings are distinct from posed photos; they capture a moment in time, whereas the portrait should capture fundamentals of a sitter.

Normally, Jesse works from photographs because sitters do not have the patience nor the time available these days to sit for the required period.   A meeting with sitters gives Jesse the opportunity to come to an understanding of their personality and character which will manifest itself in the finished portrait.

Many artists believe Jesse works in oil because of the translucent effect he is able to create, but all his paintings would be acrylic on linen.  Acrylic is a very stable medium which will last intact without crazing for hundreds of years on a linen canvas.  As an added bonus it dries quickly requiring no extra wait once the painting is completed.

The size and complexity of a piece determines length of time to complete with the guideline of 3-6 weeks, and cost.
